Open-air Concert at the Retirement and Handover Ceremony for President Huimin

The New President of the Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts Enters Office in August (Excerpt)

On July 7, 2022, the Ministry of Education officially approved the third president of the Dharma Drum Institute of Liberal Arts, Professor Chen Dingming, together with the vice president, Venerable Guojing. On the eve of the new principal's inauguration in August, the school held a special handover ceremony. The open-air concert was held to express the institute’s deepest gratitude for the dedication of the former principal, Venerable Huimin.

The handover ceremony was held at 5:00 p.m. on 7/31 at the "Haiyin Samadhi," a popular scenic spot on the campus. The chairman of the school and Master Guohui, the abbot of Dharma Drum Mountain, supervised and signed the letter and issued the letter of appointment to the new president. Professor Li Zhifu, the first director of the preparatory office of the school, was also invited to return to the school, conveying blessings on behalf of the guests and leading the audience to praise the two presidents.

Venerable Guohui presented Venerable Huimin with a certificate of appreciation and aptly described him as "the president with a smile", detailing his outstanding contributions to the institute’s teaching and research efforts. The abbot explained how President Huimin was asked by Master Sheng Yen to take up teaching at the Chinese Buddhist Research Institute in 1992, exactly 30 years ago, a period which saw major milestones in the development of Dharma Drum Mountain’s promotion of university education. We hope that President Chen will continue to cultivate outstanding talents.
